Biography - Page 2

Between 2001-2003 Pell produced Video backdrops for the live performances of techo-dance duo Loop Theory and the band Dizzy Valise respectively. This was Pell's first experiments with many of the techniques and themes that have become prevalent in his work.

Pell's first commissioned work was the audiovisual pieces Telegraph & Long Way Home with musician Nick Tebbutt. This work was premiered at The Electric Lounge event at the Broadway Cinema and Media Centre, Nottingham in April 2003.

This lead to the commission work Formotion: a silent video piece exploring the structural forms and figurative movements of a city landscape from day to night. The work also captured the diverse population of both Nottingham & Leicester. The completed work was screened in the CAST Restaurant at the Nottingham Playhouse during August 2004.
A shorter version entitled Formotions has been screened at the Showroom Sheffield as part of their Public Places, Silent Spaces Event during June 2007.
Pell has also produced a sound version entitled Formotion Re-Edit.

Recent work continues Pell's interest in the combination of visuals and music & his mission to work with musicians and sound artists. Dusk is the result of a collaboration with musician Sebastian Bucherri. The piece was shown at the Bang Short Film Festival in November 2008 at Broadway Cinema and Media Centre, Nottingham.
